High Risk Pregnancy

As a high-risk pregnancy can pose challenges before, during, or after delivery, you and your baby will need special monitoring or care throughout your pregnancy.

The words “high-risk” covers several situations. Sometimes a high-risk pregnancy is the result of a medical condition that occurred in the past or is still present before pregnancy. In other situations, a medical condition that develops during pregnancy for either mom or baby causes a pregnancy to become high risk.

Health Screening

It can save lives by finding cancers at an early stage, or even preventing them. Screening is not the same as the tests a person may have when doctors are diagnosing or treating cancer.  Many of the cancer screening guidelines are geared female cancers - Cervical, Breast, Ovarian , and Uterus.

Non-Stress-Test (NST) During Pregnancy!

An NST is a non-invasive test used in late pregnancy to check a baby's health.

Reasons For an NST in Pregnancy!

If your provider orders a non-stress test, don't panic. It doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong with you or the baby. An NST is just one tool prenatal care providers can use to assess the baby's movement and health and confirm the pregnancy is progressing appropriately.

Some of the most common reasons a doctor might order an NST include:1Your baby is moving less.

  • Your due date has passed.
  • There is too much or too little amniotic fluid.
  • Your blood type is Rh.
  • You are 35 or older.
  • You are carrying multiples.
  • You previously experienced a stillbirth.
  • You have certain health concerns, including diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid problems.

Genital Tract Infections

Genital tract infections, also known as reproductive tract infections can lead to extreme pain, discomfort, and unwanted consequences in women. These infections are classified into two main categories:

  • Lower Genital Tract Infections: This includes any infection of the lower reproductive tract including the vagina, vulva and cervix.
  • Upper Genital Tract Infections: This includes any infection of the upper reproductive tract which includes the fallopian tubes, uterus and ovaries.

Losing too much blood during periods? Watch out for these signs!

Blood loss is a normal part of a woman's life. Every month, the cycle repeats itself, and you will experience blood loss. However, blood loss isn't measured. It's possible that you'll lose more blood than usual at times, or that you'll bleed less. It's also an indicator of a normal healthy body. Menstruation, also known as periods, is a natural occurrence. The menstrual cycle lasts 28-30 days, and you bleed for 3-7 days every month. The days are marked by mild pain and cramps, but for some, they can be excruciatingly painful.
